*** Nationally Recognized InfantSEE Program Discussed ***
Tuesday, 6/23/09 at 9am on WMAR-TV (Channel 2)
Dr. Dana Taylor will be interviewed on WMAR-TV
(Channel 2) this Tuesday morning, June 23rd at 9 a.m. She will speak and answer
questions about the nationally recognized InfantSEE program, established through the
American Optometric Association. The InfantSee program calls upon optometrists to
provide a comprehensive eye assessment to infants at any time in their first year of
life, typically between the ages of 6 and 12 months.
Optometrists are charged with the detection of vision and eye health
problems that are critical to a child's development. Over the last several years, the
program has grown tremendously, and in rare (thankfully) instances, ocular problems,
including cancerous growths, have been uncovered that led to life-saving procedures.
The most common disorder discovered during this period of early growth and development
is lazy eye or amblyopia. Treating this problem early is the best way to prevent it
from contributing to difficulties later.
Dr. Taylor has been involved in the ground-breaking InfantSEE
program since its inception and is the current Maryland coordinator . She has
provided professional expertise in educational settings throughout the State of
Maryland to help optometrists provide the best care possible to infants.
Tune to ABC (Channel 2) on Tuesday, June 23rd at 9 a.m. to learn
more about this valuable program.

"In the space of 7 months (during vision therapy) she (my daughter) went from kindergarten to a 3rd grade reading level"

"I was very skeptical about vision therapy and very reticent because of the cost. Initially, we opted for eye surgery since it was covered by our insurance; however, it did not fix the problem and put my child through unnecessary trauma. Vision therapy was a big commitment but I truly believe that it was the best thing I have ever done for my son"
